I've got a problem and (http://maplered.com) can't find a useful answer. We have installed a new sand (http://maplered.com) Stone (http://g603.net) lavatory sink and (http://maplered.com) it is beautiful. I sealed the bowl twice, following the instructions. Here's the rub. When I tested the newly installed drain plumbing, it held water fine. But the water began pooling in to little droplets right through the sink !! Drops would form on the bottom, in one place.
I bought the sink from a reputable local dealer. He has even offered to replace it. However, I don't want to detach and (http://maplered.com) pull out the whole thing. Also, I probably won't get the same coloration and (http://maplered.com) asthetic from a replacement.
I called a professional installer who had helped me out in the past. He suggested sealing it with 2 part epoxy. He said it wasn't a problem he had enCounter (http://GialloFiorito.com) ed before though. So, I mixed up some epoxy and (http://maplered.com) applied it liberally to the area on the bottom of the sink.
After the whole cure time had elapsed, I tested again. I couldn't believe my eyes. Within a minute or two, water started to form in to a droplet just outside the area where I had epoxied. No water had appeared there in my previous test.
What can I do ??? Apply epoxy to the whole underside surface ?? Is there a permanent surface sealer I can apply to bowl ?? I'm at a loss.
